House On The Spectrum: Why neurospicy people love House music

House On The Spectrum is the new house music track from CommsBreakdown + Michael Herman aka MyAutisticHusband

The track features the spoken vocals of Michael Herman – aka the social media sensation, MyAutisticHusband – exploring the affection that he and the neurodivergent community have for pattern-based electronic music, and house music in particular.

House On The Spectrum goes back to the four-on-the-floor roots of house music and brings the beats and basslines right up to date for 2025.

The track is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and to buy through Beatport, Bandcamp and iTunes

Background to the track:

Back in early June 2025, Michael and his wife, Rachael, posted a reel through the MyAutisticHusband Instagram and TikTok accounts.

In this candid video Michael talks incredibly eloquently about how much house music and rave culture means to him and to the wider autistic and neurodivergent community.

Autistic people tend to crave structure in their lives, and Michael explains how the rigid structure, beats and patterns of house music are extremely welcoming to those on the spectrum. The sounds, the lights, the people are all part of the predictable, but hugely enjoyable, sensory experience of being immersed in dance music and club culture.

This resonated strongly with Steve, when he inadvertently discovered the reel in his Instagram feed. ‘This guy has an amazing voice…and what he’s saying really strikes a chord with me. I wonder if I could turn this into a house track…’ thought Steve.

And so, he did! Ripping the audio from the reel, Steve built a house beat around Michael’s vocals, adding deep sub bass, top-end percussion, congas and synth effects and risers around the cut-up and processed vocal line.

Fortunately, Michael and Rachael loved the track!

The end result has a classic house vibe, with a modern feel that openly discusses the links between autism, neurodivergence and the repetition and euphoria of house music.
