Symbiosis: the new collaboration from Avilynn and CommsBreakdown

Some exciting news!  In recent months, Iโ€™ve been working on a co-produced, collaborative track with the Berlin-based DJ and producer, Avilynn.

Symbiosis โ€“ an IDM/electronica track โ€“ is out now on all platforms and is available to buy on the Taisha Records Bandcamp page.

โ€œIt’s the attention to detail and use of space in this track that really transports you to a technological paradiseโ€ฆ too much?โ€

Kiffie The Dreamer

If youโ€™re into dark electronica, moody IDM beats and evolving ambient sounds, I think youโ€™re going to love this new release.

A true co-production: as part of Avilynnโ€™s โ€˜Not On Labelโ€™ project

Avilynn is a progressive light on the Berlin techno scene, creating inspiring electronic music tracks, working in sound design and DJing in some of the cityโ€™s most forward-thinking clubs. Her โ€˜Not On Labelโ€™ project sets out to create a series of collaborations, from artists spread across the globe.

The first โ€˜Not On Labelโ€™ release was Broken Frame, a co-production with Zuka Modebadze, better known as 2bit2bi, a 21-year-old electronic music producer and DJ based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Picking her collaborators from across the world, talent and innovation are the defining factors behind Avilynnโ€™s choices, not the size of their social media following.

After a chance meeting on the Threads social media platform, Avilynn asked me to be a part of the project. We began swapping stems and audio parts online, and gradually reworked the original sounds into something totally new and unique.

Symbiosis: a new track for your ears and the dancefloor

Iโ€™m extremely pleased to be part of this global project, and for Symbiosis to be the second collaborative track from the โ€˜Not On Labelโ€™ initiative.

As the name suggests, Symbiosis is a meeting of two minds and two different artistic approaches, coming together to create a boundary-pushing IDM track that melds ambient soundscapes, swirling modular arpeggios and razor-sharp dancefloor beats.

The track was exclusively previewed in Keyi Magazine on 26 October, giving their readership the opportunity to get a sneaky listen of the track before the main release on 6 November.

Daniel from Kiffie the Dreamer very kindly reviewed the track for us, and I love how heโ€™s described the sound of the track

โ€œTheir instrumental track โ€˜Symbiosisโ€™ is  a spacey adventure on the darker side of uplifting trance. The detailed delays and reverbs are really pleasing to listen to and the different synthetic sounds are chosen with variability in mind. A voice sounding bass enters, and moves the track along with beautiful long melodies in the syncopated and staccato arpeggios. Snare hits remind you to stay focussed as the track evolves from the bustling business of techno towards a calmer zone to chill-out.โ€

โ€œIt’s the attention to detail and use of space in this track that really transports you to a technological paradiseโ€ฆ too much?โ€
